Muhammad Ali Jinnah (1876-1948) is known as "Quaid-e-Azam" (Great Leader) and "Baba-e-Qaum" (Father of the Nation). This charismatic, politician and visionary played a pivotal role in the emergence of Pakistan as an independent state for the Muslims of the Indian subcontinent.
Jinnah came from a family of Muslim traders in Karachi, then part of British India. He studied law in London, which shaped his beliefs about justice and the rule of law. On his return to India, he became involved in politics and soon became a prominent member of the Indian National Congress. His aim was to unite Hindus and Muslims in the struggle for India's independence.
Despite his initial efforts at unity, Jinnah became increasingly convinced that the Muslim community needed its own state to protect its rights and identity. In 1940, he presented the Lahore Resolution, which called for the creation of an independent state for Muslims. Thanks to his tireless work and political strategy, Pakistan was declared an independent state in 1947.
Muhammad Ali Jinnah died just a year after the creation of Pakistan, but his legacy lives on. His steadfast determination, political skill and leadership made him one of the most important figures of the 20th century. His mausoleum in Karachi is a symbol of his contribution to the nation and a place where people still worship today.
