Emil and Dana Zátopek were not only exceptional athletes, but also humble and inspiring people. Known for his friendly attitude and sense of humor, Emil was often admired for his endurance and ability to overcome physical limits. Despite demanding training methods he never developed himself, he never lost his zest for running and pioneered new approaches to endurance training. His famous words, "If you can't, push harder," have become a motto for many athletes and an example that determination can overcome even the greatest of odds.
Dana Zátopková was a solid support system for Emil, as well as her own athletic personality with accomplishments in the javelin throw that matched her determination and talent. Although they lived in the spotlight, they always remained humble and willing to help younger athletes. After their active careers ended, both dedicated themselves to the development of the sport in Czechoslovakia and passed on their experience to the next generation. Emil's motto and Dana's patience and wisdom continue to inspire many sports enthusiasts not only in the Czech Republic but around the world.
