Stamp 13 Kč - Church of St. James near Kutná Hora (year 1165)

The Church of St. James, located near Kutná Hora, is one of the most important examples of Gothic architecture in Bohemia. This majestic single-nave church, dedicated to St. James the Elder, was built in the first half of the 14th century as part of the settlement of Sedlec, which was closely linked to the development of mining in Kutná Hora.

The church stands out for its simple yet noble architectural concept, typical of medieval buildings in the region. The church is dominated by a tall tower that rises above the surrounding landscape and forms an unmissable landmark. The interior of the church is impressive with its impressive Gothic vaults, which underline its spiritual and artistic value.

This church, which was part of the Cistercian monastery in Sedlec, is also closely linked to the history of Kutné Hory and its wealth from silver mining. Today, St. James Church is a treasured monument and a symbol of Gothic heritage in the Czech lands, making it a worthy subject for a postage stamp celebrating Czech history and architecture.

17 Kč stamp - Bucovice Castle (1584)

The Bučovice Castle, a gem of Renaissance architecture from 1584, is one of the most important monuments of its kind in the Czech Republic. This exceptional castle, located in the town of the same name in South Moravia, was built at the request of Jan Šembera of Boskovice. Its style is inspired by the Italian Renaissance, which is reflected in its symmetrical, arcaded courtyard and rich stucco decoration.

The chateau is best known for its so-called "Diana Hall", a lavishly decorated area where scenes from ancient mythology and hunting scenes are depicted. This building represents the ideal of Renaissance style - harmony, artistic detail and inspiration from antiquity.

The stamp with a face value of 13 CZK pays tribute to this architectural gem, which attracts not only with its history, but also with its unique atmosphere that combines the charm of the Renaissance with the legacy of noble families.

Stamp 31 Kč - Dancing House Prague (1996)

The Dancing House, an iconic building on Prague's Rašín Embankment, is a symbol of modern architecture in the heart of historic Prague. Designed by world-renowned architects Frank O. Gehry and Vlado Milunić, it was completed in 1996. Its dynamic and bold design earned it the nickname "Fred and Ginger" after the dancing couple Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, whom the building commemorates.

The motif on the stamp captures the unique curves of this building, which harmoniously blends a glass tower and a sturdy stone section. The stamp not only celebrates an innovative approach to architecture, but also reminds us how modern design can enhance the historic atmosphere of a city. The Dancing House is still one of Prague's most iconic symbols, attracting visitors from all over the world.
