Eastern Gorilla (Gorilla beringei)
The eastern gorilla is a formidable primate species inhabiting the mountainous and forested regions of central Africa. Known for their calm nature and distinctive social structure, these massive animals are among the largest land mammals. They are divided into two subspecies - the mountain gorilla and the eastern lowland gorilla. Unfortunately, due to habitat loss and poaching, these gorillas are critically endangered. Their conservation is crucial to preserving biodiversity and ecosystem balance.
