Theodor Körner (1873-1957) was an Austrian politician, soldier and the fourth Federal President of Austria, serving from 1951 until his death in 1957. He was born in Komárno (then part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire) and began his career in the military sphere , where he served in the Austro-Hungarian army and reached the rank of general during World War I. After the war and the collapse of the monarchy, he became a critic of authoritarian tendencies in the new Austrian Republic and a supporter of democratic ideals.
In 1945, after the end of World War II, he was appointed mayor of Vienna, where he made a significant contribution to the city's post-war reconstruction. His reconstruction efforts were aimed at providing for the basic needs of the population, particularly in the areas of housing and food supply. In 1951 he was elected Federal President of Austria, becoming a symbol of stability and reconstruction after the war. Körner was respected for his sense of justice and his commitment to democratic values, making him one of the most important figures in Austrian post-war politics.
